Betting Opportunities for Grand Slam and Other Tennis Tournaments

It is quite unfortunate that due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the original schedules of Grand Slam tennis tournaments have been canceled. Still, a number of European tennis tours are currently taking place, which suggests that sportsbooks are now offering tennis betting opportunities.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF), partners with the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) in governing professional tennis players and in organizing Grand Slam tournaments. However, in light of the crowd restrictions imposed by governments, schedules of the 2020 major tournaments have been moved at a later date this year, if not pushed back to happen in 2021.

The 2020 Australia Open qualifying matches transpired prior to the global lockdowns, from January 14 to February 02 in Melbourne. However, other major tournaments where top seed tennis players are looking to bag a Grand Slam feat, will have to wait.

Wimbledon

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), the organising body of the Wimbledon Grand Slam announced with regret that this year’s tournaments, which had been slated from June 29 to July 12 has been cancelled. Staging of the 134th edition of the Wimbledon Championships has been reset to take place on June 28 to July 11, 2021.

US Open Tournament

The first Grand Slam to launch its series of tournaments is the US Open Tour, but will be held behind closed doors. The 2020 US Open tours were suspended in March 2020, but have been rescheduled to start on August 17 with ATP Citi Open in Washington, followed by the ATP Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati on August 22, and finally the ATP US Open in New York on August 31.

The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) will start on 3 August in Italy at the Palermo Open, and to be followed by 19 other events across the world, including the French Open, the US Open leading up to the season-ending finals in Shenzhen, China.

the French Open

The French Open, which was originally scheduled last May 24 has been moved to September 30, 2020. The good news is that the French Tennis Federation (FTF) has ruled out closed door events, saying

“The French Open will in no way be carried out without fans.”

Japan Davis Cup BNP Paribas Finals

The Japanese Tennis Association has announced that 2020 Davis Cup BNP Paribas Finals has been scheduled to take place in November 23-29, 2020 at La Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain; featuring 18 winning nation qualifiers, including Spain’s 2019 tennis champion.

Other Tennis Tournaments Happening in Europe

Despite cancellations and postponements of the Grand Slam tours, there are quite a number of tennis competitions taking place in Europe. Tennis sports fans need only to check the tennis betting opportunities currently being offered by sportsbooks that include but not limited to International Tennis Series 2020 Exhibition, Austrian Pro Series Grand Slam Tennis Tours Matchplay 120 Men and Grand slam Tennis Tours Matchplay 120 Women.

Although the tournaments are taking place mostly in Europe, Asians are just as interested in the betting products offered for tennis matches. After all, several online sports betting sites were able to keep their Asian customers happy despite the COVID-19 lockdowns, even by just providing them a wide selection of online casino games.

In fact, not a few Western sports bettors prefer to place wagers in Asia mobile gambling platforms like 918Kiss, which used to operate under the online brand SCR888. Mainly because their Euros can buy more sports bets when staked in an Asian sports betting site. The SCR888 software can now be accessed via a 918kiss download of an application for Android or iOS-supported devices. .
