ANDY MURRAY reckons the female touch is turning him into a man possessed just in time for the first Grand Slam of the year.

Murray partnered teenager Laura Robson in the Hopman Cup yesterday to help Britain beat Kazakhstan 2-1 in their opening tie Down Under.

It was a rare mixed doubles outing for the Scot but he insists it’s given him all the aggression he will need at the net ahead of the Australian Open in two weeks’ time.

Murray is often accused of not rampaging forward enough but he battered that claim out of court in Perth.

The 22-year-old said: “With the mixed you have to play, as the guy, a little more aggressively at the net and take a few more chances.

“That’s good for your movement and gives you some confidence on the volleys if you make some big ones. It all helps my preparation.”

Murray, who had breezed through his singles match with Andrey Golubev 6-2 in just 61 minutes after Robson had dropped her opener to Yaroslava Shvedova, was made to work a whole lot harder in the mixed doubles. (more…)
