Is Roddick Ready To Win Another Major?

tennisAndy Roddick is one of my favorites and as much as I wish he could get to No. 1 again, I don’t think that’s going to happen. However, that doesn’t mean he can’t win more slams – and that’s good enough for me.

2010 could be a great year for Roddick. He showed at Wimbledon that he could make it to a final again and he was just a few short points away from another title. His best shot at a slam is obviously at Wimbledon, where if his serve is humming he always has a chance. (more…)

Roddick & Serena Williams Aim For 2010

tennisAndy Roddick and Serena Williams hope to team up for the United States in mixed doubles when the event returns to the Olympics at the 2012 London Games.

Roddick, 27, the men’s world number seven, has had discussions with Williams, 28, the women’s number one.

And Roddick said on Twitter: “It’s confirmed! Serena and Andy teaming up for mixed doubles at 2012 games if they push the mixed doubles through.”

The tennis events at London 2012 will take place on Wimbledon’s grass courts.

The International Olympic Committe announced last week that mixed doubles would be introduced to the Olympic programme in time for 2012. (more…)

IOC approves cycling changes, tennis mixed doubles

tennisOlympic leaders made two roster changes Thursday for the 2012 London Games: Track cycling’s signature endurance race is out and tennis mixed doubles is in.

The International Olympic Committee executive board agreed to a program of five men’s and five women’s track cycling events as part of a plan proposed by cycling’s governing body. As a result, the Olympics will lose track cycling’s 4,000-meter individual pursuit for men and 3,000-meter pursuit for women.

Cycling had seven track events for men and three for women at the 2008 Beijing Games. Thursday’s changes were designed to make sure male and females compete in an equal number of events in London. (more…)

Serena Williams attacks officials

tennisAmerican tennis star Serena Williams has launched an extraordinary attack on officials and former players in a bitter aftermath to her record fine.onsidered by many to be fortunate to escape suspension for abusing a lineswoman at the US Open, Williams claims that the 175,000-dollar fine is excessive, and sexist.

Williams was found guilty by the Grand Slam committee of aggravated behaviour for screaming at the lineswoman: “If I could. I would take this f…ing ball and shove it down your f…ing throat.”

According to the Daily Telegraph, the committee had the power to ban Williams but opted to give her a suspended sentence until 2011. (more…)
