With her regular coach, Sam Sumyk, at home with his wife awaiting the birth of their first child, Garbine Muguruza got a heck of a substitute at Wimbledon.

Spain’s Fed Cup captain and 1994 Wimbledon champ Conchita Martinez – who until Saturday was the last Spanish woman to have won the tournament – worked with Muguruza throughout the fortnight. Their partnership culminated in a 7-5, 6-0 finals victory over Venus Williams that delivered Muguruza her second major title.

Despite their success, however, Martinez does not intend to continue coaching her countryman.

”I’m here. I’m still the Fed Cup and Davis Cup captain and I’m always in contact with every player,” Martinez told reporters Saturday, according to the Associated Press. “But Sam, her coach, is going to step in now.”

In her on-court interview after winning the title, Muguruza was asked if she had a message for Sumyk. She lifted up the Venus Rosewater Dish.

“Here it is.”
