Simona Halep made to the finals after Serena Williams pulled out from their semi-final match before it even began with knee injury. She had battled in this tournament to reach the semi-final match. The 23 year old Romanian is starting to hit her stride and although she is in the final of the tournament because Williams could not play it nevertheless a great feat to the reach the final for a young player.
Jelena Jankovic made to the final after beating Sabine Lisicki 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. She had a slow start but picked her game in the final two sets. Jankovic is coming back from a back injury that held her out in the last three month of 2014. Jankovic who is 30 years old had thought about retiring because she could barely get out bed with her injury. She is now the finals of BNP Paribas Open and could win it all on Sunday morning.
It should be an interesting final; Halep is 3-1 against Jankovic all time. Jankovic’s only win came in 2010 in the U.S. Open before Halep had hit her stride. Halep should take this, as she is big time favorite with the odds makers.
