World No. 1 Serena Williams, Russian beauty Maria Sharapova and two-time singles Grand slam champion Petra Kvitova among the Nominees for WTA Player of the Year Award announced by the WTA Tour.
33-year-old Serena Williams has played outstanding tennis from beginning of the season by dominating women’s singles and wraps up the year with No. 1 spot in WTA Ranking Points. Serena Williams has won the 18th Grand slam championship at the US Open in front of home crowd. Serena Williams is having most of the chances to clinch WTA Player of the Year Award for third consecutive time.
Currently, Serena has been enjoying off court season along with former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in New York, where the two pals are spending much time in a holiday vacations. Serena Williams also bagged the year end 2014 WTA Season at Singapore and finish the season high note before heading to 2015 season.
Maria Sharapova has been nominated for the WTA Comeback Player of the Year Award, where World No. 3 Petra Kvitova also played outstanding tennis by clinching second major at Wimbledon Championships and helped the Czechs to another Fed Cup title. World No. 4 Simona Halep has appeared reached her first Grand Slam final at French Open in Paris and former World No. 1 Ana Ivanovic has finished the WTA season at top 10 for the first time since 2009.
