Defending champion Rafael Nadal is going to play against Novak Djokovic in French Open final on Sunday. The clay court king, Rafael Nadal is on fire and looking forward to win his ninth French Open and fourteenth major overall.
Though out the tournament, Nadal has shown his high standards on clay and reached finals. There is always something big when both the players meet in the court. They have played each other a record 41 times, where Nadal had the edge 22-19.
On Sunday, Nadal is aiming for his ninth French Open in ten years and Djokovic is trying to complete his career grand slam by finally winning in Paris. The winner will not only win the French Open but also the number one ranking. Nadal is on swing for last three weeks and lost only one set over six matches. However, Djokovic won last four matches against Nadal, where Nadal has won their last three games at the Grand Slams.
Though Djokovic has got good season, Nadal’s consistency at Roland Garros in last ten years is amazing and had lost only once. This show Rafa’s track record and his present form are not ignorable. Nadal is on a 34-match win streak on Paris’s red clay.
There is definitely pressure on both the players, but Nadal believes it will be more on Djokovic. Nadal already won the French Open for eight times, where Djokovic is playing just his second one. Also, Nadal is enjoying his No.1 ranking, where Djokovic is at No.2.
Djokovic and Nadal fight for the title in 2013, where Djokovic lost the game in last set. It was a very close match and Djokovic did not want to lose the chance this time again.
