Maria Sharapova to play in Brisbane International

Four-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova has announced to play in the 2013 Brisbane International tournament, where she said it is going to be good preparation for the season’s opening Grand Slam at Australian Open.

Former World No. 1 Maria Sharapova has been struggling with shoulder injury and she has been working hard over fitness from past couple of months. She also withdraws from the year endings WTA Tour Championships in Istanbul, where she was not ready to take part in the tournament. Russian beauty said it’s unfortunate to miss the WTA Istanbul, which it is one of the best WTA Tournament.

26-year-old Maria Sharapova is very excited for comeback to court in Brisbane, where she will have to face big challenge against defending champion Serena Williams, Petra Kvitova and Sam Stosur and Sloane Stephens to the Hopman Cup in Perth. Serena Williams will be the hot favorite at the Brisbane International, which will be start in January on outdoor hard courts in Brisbane.

 In 2013 Brisbane International final, Serena Williams has thrashed Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in consecutive sets with a 6–2, 6–1 score line, she will be eyeing to clinch the second title at the Queensland Tennis Centre
