Four-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova has announced that she is going to skip from the 2013 Rogers Cup Women’s Tournament, as she was suffering from hip injury.
World No. 2 Maria Sharapova, who was sustained hip injury at the Wimbledon championships second round loss to Michelle Larcher de Brito, she needs time to recover from injury. Maria Sharapova wants to focus more on US Open, where she is looking forward to retain 100 percent fitness till next month ending. Russian beauty said it’s unfortunate to skip from the Rogers Cup and it is one of the beautiful tournament on WTA Tour.
The Rogers Cup tournament will take place from August 3rd, being played here on outdoor hard courts at Rexall Centre on York University campus in Toronto, while men’s tournament will kick off from 2 to 11 August in Montreal. Sharapova also withdraws from this week’s Bank of the West Classic at Stanford University, where she is not ready to take part in the tournament.
24-year old Maria Sharapova will travel to Toronto to make a fan appearance, which will take place on Thursday evening 1st August.
