World No. 5 Li Na has withdraws from the 2013 Qatar Open Ladies tournament, which was schedule to start from 11th February at the International Tennis and Squash complex in Doha
2011 French Open champion Li Na has withdrawn from the 2013 Qatar Open Ladies tournament due to ankle injury, where she sustained at the 2013 Australian Open final at Rod Laver Arena. Chinese top seed needs time to recover from ankle and hopes to return back to WTA Tour soon by end of this month.
Li Na has been holding No. 5 spot in the WTA Rankings, which it was leading by 2013 Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka and American tennis legend Serena Williams. Li Na was replaced by the Hungary’s Timea Babos in the Qatar Open Ladies.
15-time Singles Grand Slam champion Serena Williams also skips from the Qatar Open, as she suffered ankle injury at the Australian Open semi final last month.
