Former World No. 1 Maria Sharapova has withdraws from the Russian Fed Cup match against Japan, which will kick off from 9th February.
Four-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova has played only three Fed Cup match for her nation Russia, where she has made her debut in 2008 and played crucial role to satisfy in the Olympic Games Qualification. Sharapova has announced that she is going to miss the Fed Cup matches next month from 9 and 10th against Japan.
World No. 3 Sharapova was schedule to play WTA Tournaments in United States and it’s unfortunate to miss her in Fed Cup team says Russia captain Shamil Tarpishchev. Russian beauty, who had lost 2013 Australian Open semi final to Chinese top seed Li Na in straight sets with a 6-2, 6-2 score line at Rod Laver Arena, she is looking forward to come back to top form.
Meanwhile, Svetlana Kuznetsov also left out of the Russian Fed cup team, which will be played here on outdoor hard courts in Moscow next month. World No. 15 Maria Kirilenko and World No. 19 Ekaterina Makarova will lead Russian Fed Cup team in singles matches.
