Rafael Nadal: tough to defend ‘Olympic Gold Medal’

World No. 3 Rafael Nadal insists that, it’s tough to defend men’s singles gold medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games, which will kick off from 27 July to 12 August 2012.

11-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal said it’s a dream for every athlete to take part in the big event and goal to gold medal to make their nation proud. He added he has been working hard to recover soon from knee injury and hopes to back to court by time for better London Olympic preparations. Nadal is going to face big challenge against his rivals World No. 1 Roger Federer and five-time major title holder Novak Djokovic for gold medal.

26-year-old Nadal said it’s tough to win a gold medal for any player, after coming back from injury or illness. But, he will work hard and going to put his 100 percent efforts to defend gold medal. Nadal has posted a message on his Facebook wall, as he was continuing with knee recovery for the 2012 London Olympics and thanked all his tennis fans for encouraging him in tough times.

Nadal, who has won gold medal in men’s singles tennis competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing; he has thrashed Fernando Gonzalez of Chile in three sets with a 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.
