Top seeded player, Thomas Berdych will be battling against France qualifier, Florent Serra to secure his place in the quarterfinal of the 2012 Montpellier Open.
World No.7, Thomas Berdych will be squaring of with the world No.142, Florent Serra in the second round of the 2012 Montpellier Open on Thursday, February 2, 2012 in the Open Sud de France, which is schedule to be held in Montpellier, France.
Both the players have clashed three matches in the past, as the top seeded; Berdych is leading the contest with 2-1 against the qualifier, Serra. However, the previous encounter between both the players was in the 2012 Paris Open, as Berdych has thrashed out Serra in straight sets with a score line of 6-3 6-1.
World No.7, Thomas Berdych has got a bye in his first round being the top seeded player. Earlier in 2012 Australian open, Czech has reached his second straight quarterfinals show. However, he was defeated by the king of clay, Rafael Nadal.
Berdych will be playing in his first ATP world Tour tournament and has got a win-loss record of 4-1.
France qualifier, Florent Serra, who has been the qualifier of the tournament, will be facing the top seeded player if tournament to advance into the quarterfinals of the tournament. Serra has got a win-loss record of 1-1 this season.
