Czech world No.2, Petra Kvitova will be having tough competitions in the 2012 Laureus Sportswomen of the year with the Athletic players, Cheruiyot and Jeter.
Petra Kvitova has defeated former Russian world No.1, Maria Sharapova in the finals at the All England Club in London to clinch her first grand slam title in career at 2011 Wimbledon and at the end of the season has won the WTA Championship title in Istanbul.
Kvitova already been named as tennis player of the year for 2011 has been nominated for the prestigious Laureus Statuette award, which will be aired on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Central Hall, Westminster.
Along with the tennis start, Kvitova the other player’s women sports starts nominated for the Laureus World Award are Vivian Cheruiyot (Kenya) Athletics, Carmelita Jeter
(United States) Athletics, Homare Sawa (Japan) Football, Maria Hoefl-Riesch (Germany) Alpine Skiing and Yani Tseng.
These are the most valued awards in sport because the winners are chosen by the 47 members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, all living legends.
The winners of all Laureus World Sports Awards will be revealed during a spectacular celebration of the sporting heroes of 2011 at Central Hall, Westminster, on Monday 6 February.
