The World No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and former World No. 7 Gael Monfils are committed to take part in the Davis Cup team to meet Canada in Vancouver in February in World Group first-round tie.
The French Tennis Federation announced that, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gael Monfils, Mickael Llodra and Julien Benneteau will play Davis Cup for their nation, where they are going to battle against Canada. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gael Monfils will play singles and Mickael Llodra and Julien Benneteau to pair up in doubles, who holds fifth position in the doubles ranking. France Davis Cup team captain said it’s very lucky to have enough players like World No. 12 Gilles Simon and Richard Gasquet, who were not selected for the Davis Cup tie first round.
The 25-year-old Gael Monfils is the alone player in the France team, who has been taking part in the ATP tournament in Montpellier. France top seed Tsonga has played great tennis at end of the last season and hopes to continue similar performance in 2012.
Canada Davis Cup team holds 14th position in the World, after seven seasons at the level below. The 21-year-old Milos Raonic also included in the Canada team, after his outstanding performance in the 2011 season, who has climbed to 156th to 25th position in the ATP Rankings. The winner between France and Canada will qualify for the quarter-finals, while the loser will clash in World Group playoffs in 2013.
