The second seed Gilles Simon will meet Italian star Flavio Cipolla in the second round at 2012 Montpellier Open tournament, which will begin at 18:05 GMT on Wednesday 1st February, being played on indoor hard courts in France.

The World No. 12 Simon has received opening round bye, where he has begin the season at Brisbane International. He has appeared in the semi finals, before falling to Alexandr Dolgopolov in straight sets with a 6-3, 6-4. Simon, who has lost Australian Open second round against his fellow country mate Julien Benneteau in thrilling five sets with a 5-7, 6-7, 6-1, 6-3, 2-6

The Italian tennis star Flavio Cipolla has thrashed Frenchman Marc Gicquel in three sets with a 6-1, 4-6, 5-7 in the first round, where he will face tough challenge in the second round against Simon. Cipolla has lost Australian Open second round to Feliciano Lopez in three sets. Cipolla should work hard to beat second seed Simon on the indoor hard court.

Both the players are battling for the second time in career, where Cipolla leads with a 1-0 win loss head-to-head record against Frenchman Simon. The pair last meet at Estoril ATP tournament in 2008, as Cipolla won the match, after Simon retire from the match with a 6-2, 5-3. The predications’ favor second seed Simon is having little edge to clinch victory and advance into the 2012 Montpellier Open tournament third round.
