Former world No.3, Nicolay Davydenko has thrashed out his opponent, Stephane Robert to book his place in the second round of the Montpellier Open.
Russian world No.52, Davydenko in his first round clash against the world No.115, Stephane Robert has got an comprehensive victory in straight sets with a score line of 6-1 6-2 to advance into the second round of the 2012 Sud de France Open.
Davydenko has been awarded a wildcard entry to the tournament. However, the Russian veteran blasted past his opponent in the most authoritative fashion to clear the first round of the draw. He delivered 74 per cent of his first serve on target and secured 21 out of 25 points on it to drive his opponent out of the contest with the utmost ease in one hour.
The Russian world No.52, Nicolay Davydenko will be clashing his second round encounter against the fourth seeded player, Richard Gasquet in the 2012 Montpellier Open.
Sixth seeded Florian Mayer thrashed out Gilles Muller in straight sets with a score line of 7-6(3), 6-3 in the first round of the Open Sud de France in Montpellier on Monday.
