The Russian top seed Mikhail Youzhny will battle against Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine in the first round at 2012 PBZ Zagreb Open championship at 13:05 GMT on Tuesday 31st January.
The World No. 39 Youzhny has lost Australian Open first round by Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan in thrilling five sets with a 5-7, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6. Youzhny has played better tennis in season beginning’s ATP Tournament at Qatar Open, where he has appeared in quarter finals, before falling to Rafael Nadal in two sets with a 6-4, 6-4.
The 26-year-old Stakhovsky hopes to win the first round against third seed Youzhny, where he is looking one of the hot favorite to lift the PBZ Zagreb Open championship. World No. 67 Sergiy Stakhovsky has lost Australian Open second round to South African Kevin Anderson in four sets with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-7, 3-6.
Both the players are meeting for the fourth time in career, where Youzhny leads with a 2-1 win loss head-to-head record series against Stakhovsky. The pair last meet at 2011 St. Petersburg ATP tournament, as Russian star has overwhelmed Stakhovsky in straight sets with a 6-3, 7-6. The predictions favor Mikhail Youzhny is having little edge to win the opening round and advance into second round.
