Mardy Fish and John Isner will be leading the Davis Cup team for USA, which takes on Switzerland in Fribourg, February 10-12 and Mike Bryan and Ryan Harrison will be pairing up in for the doubles event.
The Swiss team will be led by World No. 3 Roger Federer and No. 22 Stanislas Wawrinka. Considering the present state of affairs, Courier quoted, “We have the toughest you can have draw in Davis Cup. It’s the ultimate test. It’s going to be a big battle, but we have nothing to lose. We have to go out and lay it on the line and we know we are underdogs, but we’ll give it a rip.”
When asked about the top players of the team, Courier asserted, John likes the clay, likes the slow court. Mardy grew up in Florida and slides well. It’s not the surface we’d have chosen to pick, but I don’t think it’s a problem for us.
Meanwhile, Bob Bryan will miss the match because his wife is due to have a baby. Courier said Fish and Mike Bryan are the likely doubles pairing, and Fish and Isner most likely will play singles.
Former American world No.1, Andy Roddick already decided not to play before he was injured at the Australian Open.
