The 13-time singles Grand Slam champion Serena Williams has begin the UNICEF’s Schools for Asia, after her launching ‘The Serena Williams Secondary School’ in Africa in 2008.
According to sources, several stars have introduced their Schools for Africa campaign in 2004 and enhanced education for 5 million African students for their future. American tennis star Serena has step out for their schools for Asia campaign, which will help to bring out more educational chances for poor students in South and East Asia.
The 30-year-old Serena said ‘The Serena Williams Secondary Schools’ for Asia will offer more quality education for millions of needy children, who doesn’t have access to education. She added several small children are working to help their families. Serena believes The Serena Williams Secondary Schools’ program is aiming to provide primary education worldwide and will give safe schools, education about physical condition, life skills, including back-up to stay in school.
The former World No. 1 Serena said quality education is necessary for growth, which will improve skills and confidence in children, who hopes for better future for themselves and their families. Serena will play her next tournament at Fed Cup for United States, where she is going to play along with Venus Williams, Christina McHale, and world No. 1 doubles player Liezel Huber against Belarus in the 2012, schedule to begin on 5th February.
