Roger Federer, the 16-time Grand Slam champion has been chosen as the greatest men’s singles player of all time in the tennis history, after being lost Australian Open semi final against his best rival Rafael Nadal at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Park on Thursday.
The former World No. 1 Federer has won the fans poll on Friday morning, where he has won more than 70 percent of votes as the greatest player of all time in the tennis era. Swiss Maestro has received more than 25,000 votes, after 35,000 tennis fans has participated in the ‘australianopen.com poll question’ ‘who is the greatest men’s player of all time’.
The 10-time major title holder Rafael Nadal has received just 4000 votes, where he has outclassed Roger Federer in the Australian Open semi finals in four sets with a 6-7, 6-2, 7-6, 6-4 score line. The former American tennis legend and 14-time Grand Slam champion Pete Sampras holds third place in the fans poll, where he has received six percent of votes. The former World No. 1 and Australian tennis great Rod Laver stands at fourth place and will celebrate his 50th anniversary of his Grand Slam.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal also selected as a greatest rivalry in men’s tennis, where the pair has received 63.9 percent with 9930 votes. Both the players have dominated the men’s singles tennis, since 2004 and hold the top two positions from eight years in the ATP Rankings.
