Former world No.1, Martina Hingis has given a suggestion to Dane world No.1, Caroline Wozniacki to move forward inside the court to get some success over powerful players.
Dane No.1, Caroline Wozniacki, who is still on a roll to clinch her first grand slam title has been defeated in the quarterfinals against defending champion, Kim Clijsters in straight sets with a score line of 6-3, 7-6 and will be losing the top spot to Azarenka, Sharapova or Kvitova at the end of this week.
Hingis has also reported about her self stating that; even she had a problem stepping back. However, she tried not to let them push me. Eventually you play one Williams, you play the second, you play Davenport, and you play Capriati, who were all pushing forward. They were stronger than me. It’s hard to play three, four players like that in a row. It’s three-setter after three-setter after three-setter I couldn’t come out on top all the time. In the beginning I did most of the time. Today you just can’t let yourself get pushed back. That’s what she has to do. She has to try to move in, step forward, otherwise there is always going to be somebody coming on top of her at a Grand Slam. She’s a great player.
Hingis was not a steady net rusher. However, she was able to hit reflex winners from inside the baseline as she had extraordinary hands and eagerness. Wozniacki is more of a chopper who is more comfortable retrieving from behind the baseline.
Five times grand slam champion has admitted that, Wozniacki should have the mindset of coming forward in her training sessions, so that it becomes habituated and added that, even, when you loss few matches against other players, you to practice it regularly by coming close to net against the unseeded player. So, that she can show that against the top seeds.
So, let’s wait and see…What Wozniacki will do in the next tournaments.
