The former World No. 1 Martina Navratilova insist that Caroline Wozniacki will lose her No. 1 position in the WTA Rankings, after losing quarter final against Kim Clijsters on Tuesday at Rod Laver Arena.
The 55-year-old Martina Navratilova said World No. 2 Petra Kvitova is having the most of the possibilities to clinch 2012 Australian Open championship this month at Melbourne Park and can climb to No. 1 position in the WTA Rankings. She added Caroline Wozniacki is not having ability to win a Grand Slam championship in her career, where she has been holding No. 1 spot, since October 2009. Danish star has showed best appearance in the major tournament at the 2009 US Open final.
Martina Navratilova feels ranking system should be used to give bonus points, after defeating best players on the Tour, which was in active six years ago. Kvitova has been passing through one of her finest performance in her career and she has overwhelmed more top players than Caroline Wozniacki in 2011 season. Navratilova believes Rankings system has been not showing sufficient importance on the quality of opponent a player has beaten in the Grand Slam tournaments.
Kim Clijsters is also playing great tennis at the moment, where she has reached the Australian Open semi finals on 25th January at Melbourne Park. Clijsters will take on World no. 3 Victoria Azarenka in the semi finals, as Belgium star had the possibilities to return back to top ten in the WTA Rankings.
