Japans world No.28, Kei Nishikori, who has shown a stunning performance dispatching the top seeded player and world No.6, Jo Wilfried Tsonga has said that, he was impressed by seeing Na Li.
Nishikori has created a history on Monday defeating the Tsonga in four set encounter with a score line of 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 to become the first japans players in the history of tennis to cruise into the quarterfinals of the grand slam tournament in 2012 Australian Open.
Japanese No.28 has struggled hard to clinch a victory in 3hr 30min in sweltering conditions on Hisense Arena. However, the raising Japan’s player has said that, This is the first quarter-final for me and his previous best result was in 2008 US Open round, where he reached the fourth round of year end of the grand slam tournament and added that, he played well at the end of last year and now it’s like this. So, yeah, he is felling like, he can do more in the 2012 Australian Open.
Nishikori also added that, he is to be top player in Asia in the history of tennis and reported that, he hopefully can be like 2011 French open champion, Li Na for the men.
World No.28, Nishikori will be facing his quarterfinals against the world No.4, Andy Murray on Wednesday at Melbourne.
