The World No. 2 Petra Kvitova is aiming to clinch the Australian Open crown for the first time in her career, after showing best performance so far in the championship.
The 21-year-old Kvitova has played great tennis so far in the Australian Open championship, where she has reached quarter finals on Monday at Melbourne Park. Czech Republic star has thrashed former World No. 1 Ana Ivanovic in straight sets with a 6-2, 7-6 in the fourth round. Kvitova is having most of the chances to bag the second Grand Slam crown in her career, after 13-time singles major titles champion Serena Williams of United States has fall in the Australian Open fourth round by Ekaterina Makarova of Russia with a 6-2, 6-3.
The 2011 Wimbledon champion Kvitova also showed best performance in the 2012 Apia International, where she has lost semi final to Li Na of China in tough three sets with a 6-1, 5-7, 2-6. Czech Republic top seed is has won her first WTA Tour crown at Hopman Cup, after beating World No. 9 Marion Bartoli of France in two sets with a 7-5, 6-1 in the final.
Kvitova will face Sara Errani of Italy in the quarter final at Australian Open 2012 on Tuesday 24th January at Melbourne Park. Second seed has been considered to be one of the huge favorite to lift the Australian Open champion, where she will face tough battle against Victoria Azarenka and top seed Carolina Wozniacki.
