Alexandr Dolgopolov, after battling tough in second round encounter, the Ukraine will be taking on local player, Bernard Tomic to steal his place in the fourth round of the 2012 Australian Open.
Ukraine world No.13, Alexandra Dolgopolov will be taking on Australian world No.38, Bernard Tomic in the third round of the 2012 Australian Open on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11:00GMT in the season opening grand slam, which is being held in Melbourne, Australia.
The head to head between both the players have clashed in three matches in past, as the seeded Ukraine, Dolgopolov is leading the contest with 3-0 against the Australian, Tomic. Last year, both of the have battled two-times, with Dolgopolov has won both them in three sets.
Alexandra Dolgopolov has started his 2012 season in style by reaching the finals of the 2012 Brisbane open finals. However, he has been defeated against the top seed player of the tournament, Andy Murray.
However, since the start of the 2012 Australia Open, Dolgopolov has been struggling for victories by playing more then four sets. Yesterday, Dolgopolov overcame a five-set battle, saving one match point at 5-6, 30/40 in the fifth set, to beat Germany player, Tobias Kamke 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, 3-6, 8-6 in three hours and 18 minutes.
Australian No. 38, Tomic will be having a lot of advantage playing in front his home crowd. However, he has already faced deafest against Dolgopolov which could be a disadvantage for him. Tomic has got a win-loss record of 3-1 in 2012.
Bernard Tomic has withstood 22 aces and 52 winners from the racquet to seal a victory against the American, Sam Querrey with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-3 to face a tough round against Dolgopolov.
