Roger Federer making a superb start in the first round of the season opening grand slam will be taking on Andreas Beck in second round of the 2012 Australian Open.
Swiss World No.3, Roger Federer will be squaring off with German world No.93, Andreas Beck in second round of the 2012 Australian Open on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 00:00 GMT, in the season opening Grand Slam tournament, which is being held in Melbourne, Australia.
The head to head between both the players have clashed in the one match in the past, as the top seeded, Federer has thrashed out Beck in straight sets with a score line of 6-3 6-4 6-3 in 2012 US Open grand slam tournament.
16-times grand slam champion, Roger Federer has made a good start in his opening encounter against the Russian qualifier and world No.172, Alexandre Kudryavtsev beating him in straight sets with a score line of 7-5 6-2 6-2. Even, after battling hard in first set, Federer regained his show to finish the next two-sets quickly.
Federer bidding to clinch his 5th Australian Open title has got a win-loss record of 3-0 in 2012. The Swiss earlier won the Australian Open title in 2004 (d. Safin), 2006 (d. Baghdatis), 2007 (d. Gonzalez) and 2010 (d. Murray).
Meanwhile, Andreas Beck, the German world No.93 has made his ATP debut in 2005. However, he hasn’t made his title debut in the ATP world tour tournaments.
Beck in his first round has defeated the France player, Eric Prodon in a three set encounter with a score line of 6-4 6-2 4-6 7-5 to set up a clash with 16-times grand slam champion, Roger Federer.
As per the predictions, it will be a straight sets victory for the Swiss No.3, Federer in 2012 Australian Open.
