Germany world No.132, Rainer Schuettler is planning to end his tennis career in the end of 2012 stating that, he plans to retire sometime towards the end of 2012.
Schuettler has played only 18 matches this season having got a win-loss record of 2-13 in 2011 and his last match was in the 2011 Wimbledon grand slam, where he defeated Thomaz Bellucci in the first round, but lost to Feliciano Lopez in the second, 6–73–7, 7–67–3, 2–6, 2–6.
German, Schuettler has said that, there are no fixed dates for retirement or a decision on which will be my last tournament and added that, by 2013 I certainly will not be a professional player.
But Schuettler says that, he has no plans to take a more hands-on approach when he quits the game, leaving the running of the enterprise to Waske, 36.
Schuettler has started off his preparation for the new season doing his fitness and tennis work in Kenya. The one-time No. 5 owns a stake in a German tennis academy along with former Davis Cup teammate Alexander Waske.
Schuettler, who has been the 2003 Australian Open finalist, has won 4- ATP World tour titles in his career with his best ATP ranking in his career was No.5 in 2004.
