"Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal"World’s top seeded rivals, Roger Federer is the president of Player Council and Rafael Nadal is the vice president of the player council. However, the seeded players in tennis era have got a different opinion on the rankings systems.

Spaniard, Rafael Nadal is supporting the Two- year’s rankings systems, while the Swiss Maestro, Federer is not interested in the 2-years rankings systems.

So here is what the seeded players, Federer and Nadal have in their minds about the Two-years Ranking systems:

President of Players council, Roger Federer has stated that he is not a big fan of the two-years ranking system and added that, it would be boring and said that, as a players council president,  I think it’s not a good thing for the lower ranked players, to be quite honest. I think it’s going to be a struggle for them to make a big breakthrough. It’s going to take them multiple breakthroughs. So the dream of having one great tournament, then making a move, in my opinion, is never going to happen.

If we have a two year ranking, things would be so slow and nothing would really move. I can’t support it as a president of the Player Council and I have to look at all the players in the eye.

Meanwhile, Spaniard, Rafael Nadal, a big of fan of the Two years ranking system has said that, Federer has his ideas as the council president; I have other ideas as vice-president. It’s not that my or his ideas are bad. We need to justify them. Why one does not like the two-year ranking and why one does, why one does not want to stage a boycott…And I don’t want to, either, there will not be any kind of a boycott, at least now, it’s very far away…I’m not the only one who likes the two-year ranking. There are many other players who also do, and the two-year ranking has a clear side, which is to protect all players, not just the top ones.

The 10-times grand slam champion also stated that, it’s a protection for the players who are injured, that will not last until the end of their careers. It’s true that when you get injured today with the one-year ranking you can go up faster, but you also have to comeback from No. 700 in the world, like what happened to Juan Martin Del Potro. It’s more important not have to come back from such allow ranking and to play with less pressure when returning.
