The seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams aims to win a major title in 2012 season, where she has missed most of the crucial WTA tournaments this season with injuries and illness.
The 31-year-old Venus Williams, who has lost an exhibition match in Barbados to Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in straight sets with a 4-6 and 3-6 score line on Monday 12th December. Venus has played her last WTA tournament at US Open in August, where she has withdrawn from the second round with suffering from Sjorgen’s syndrome. American star also played an exhibition match along with her sister 13-time singles Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in Milan earlier this month.
The American tennis star has been enjoying her off court season, where she is going to return back to training sessions soon as possible. Venus said she will work hard on her fitness and hopes to give 100 percent in the year’s first major at Australian Open, schedule to begin in January in Melbourne Park. Venus will begin her 2012 season with ASB Classic tennis tournament, a WTA International tournaments of the 2012 WTA Tour. The tournament will begin on 2nd January at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland being played on hard courts, which it will be the 27th edition of the ASB Classic.
