Eight times grand slam champion, Venus Williams having been playing few exhibition matches has stated that, she is not having any expectation of winning majors results in 2012.
Venus along with the fellow American player, John Isner has played an exhibition match against world No.16, Gael Monfils and WTA No.3, Victoria Azarenka in Sugar Hill Tennis Resort, Barbados. However, the American Duo have been defeated in the mixed doubles finals against the Belarus, Azarenka and France, Monfils with a score line of 6-4 6-3.
It was exciting exhibition match, as top seeded players in tennis have given a wonderful entertainment to the crowd and for the celebrities with Barbados Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart, and British musical idol, Sir Cliff Richard, was also present at the opening ceremony and prolonged their stay to observe some eye-startling tennis from world’s elite performers.
Meanwhile, Venus Williams, who was out of tennis, since the 2011 US Open grand slam, due to immune disease, Sjorgen’s syndrome, has returned back to court by playing four exhibition tournaments.
The Former American No.1 has made a great return beating her sister, Serena Williams in Milan. However, in the remaining three matches, she has been defeated.
Williams after the Exhibition match at Barbados has stated that, I was surprised with how I played because I expected to be a lot worse, but it was great to be out there and added that, My performance gives me I hope I can play the Australian Open next year. I’m really hoping to keep my fitness heading into 2012, but I’m not going to raise my expectations for any major results.
