Tennis players, Milos Raonic and WTA player, Rebecca Marino having shown an outstanding performance this season in the tennis calendar have been named as the Best player of the season in Canada.
Canada world No.31, Milos Raonic has shown a fabulous performance early in the season starting the year at World No. 156 has finally ended the season at career best 31 rank. The Canadian raising star, Raonic has captured his debut title this season at the SAP Open in San Jose in February and reaching a career-high of No. 25 in the world rankings on May 2.
Milos Raonic receiving the Canadian Male player of the year has said that, I’m honoured to receive this recognition from Tennis Canada and added that, I worked hard to achieve the things I did this year but I know there is much more I can accomplish as my career progresses. My goal is to continue to grow and get better and hopefully be a role model to those back home following me.
While, Rebecca Marino has received the Female Canadian player of the year award, the 20-year-old reached her first WTA final, advanced to the third round at the French Open, and hit a high of No. 38 on the WTA rankings in July.
Marino while speaking with the sources has said that, “I’m so excited to be recognized by Tennis Canada, it was a really big year for me with a lot of firsts and a huge learning curve. I’m currently working really hard on my off-season training and am really looking forward to starting the 2012 season and hopefully building on my success from this past year.
