The World No. 4 Maria Sharapova has committed to participate in the 20th edition of the Open GDF Suez WTA tennis championship at Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris in 2012.
The Russian star Sharapova has been working hard along with her trainer in Florida to return back to action strongly next season. Sharapova, who will begin new season with 2012 Brisbane International event, being played here at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Tennyson on hard courts, before heading into the Australian Open. Russian beauty has announced that she will play in the 20th edition f the Open GDF Suez event, schedule to kick off in February at Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris.
The former World No. 1 Sharapova has completed the 2011 season at No. 4 position in the WTA Rankings, after injures kept her to slide down two spots. The tournament co‐director Amelia Mauresmo hopes Sharapova will return back to top form and having the chances to win the more major titles in 2012. The 2011 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova will defend the title here at the GDF Suez WTA tennis event next year, as Czech Republic star has overcome against Kim Clijsters of Belgium in straight sets with a 6–4 and 6–3 last year final.
The 24-year-old Sharapova, who was injured at the seasons ending WTA Championship in Istanbul, as she has been working hard in training in Florida for the upcoming year.
