The World No. 12th ranked Gilles Simon will make his first appearance at the Brasil Open championship, schedule to begin at Sao Paulo at the Complexo Desportivo Constancio Vaz Guimaraes.
The 26-year-old Simon has improve his position in the ATP Rankings and clinched two ATP Tour titles this season at the Apia International Sydney and German Open in Hamburg. Simon has joined to play 2012 Brasil Open championship along with World No. 24th Fernando Verdasco and former World No. 3 David Nalbandian of Argentina, who also making his first appearance.
The Frenchman Gilles Simon has played last tournament at BNP Paris Masters in October, where he made early exit from the opening round by Juan Monaco of Argentina in straight sets with a 4-6 and 0-6 score line. Simon also reached the US Open fourth round, before falling to John Isner of United States in four sets. The Brasil Open tournament is part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the 2012 ATP World Tour, which will kick off at 13th February Sao Paulo.
The World No. 64th ranked David Nalbandian hopes he will have a better Brasil Open tournament. Nalbandian has played in the Argentina Davis Cup team, which was finished as runner-up to Spain last week in Seville. The Argentinean star is aiming to play entire 2012 season and also working hard on his fitness for the upcoming season.
