The World No. 5th ranked David Ferrer is expected to be top seed player at the 2012 Heineken Open tournament, schedule to begin on 9th January at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland.
Spanish star Ferrer has committed to play in the 2012 Heineken Open tournament, an ATP World Tour 250 series of the 2012 ATP World Tour and will takes place at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland from January 9th to 14th, before heading into the Australian Open in Melbourne Park. David Ferrer will defend the Heineken Open title, where he has overcome against David Nalbandian of Argentina in the final in straight sets with a 6–3 and 6–2 last year. David Ferrer is the one the player this season, who has overcome against World No. 1 Novak Djokovic at ATP World Tour Finals.
The 29-year-old Ferrer will join along with his Davis Cup teammates World No. 10th ranked Nicolas Almagro and No. 24th Fernando Verdasco. Spaniard has played one of his best seasons in his career with 58-19 win loss record this year and clinched two clay court championships. Ferrer also climbed one spot to No. 5 position in the ATP Rankings. The Heineken Open tournament director, Richard Palmer said he is very excited for Ferrer’s commitment to play in the event.
The other top names in the line-up including for the 2012 Heineken Open are 2011 South African Open champion Kevin Anderson, Argentina’s Juan Monaco and Juan Ignacio Chela, Former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero, Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil, American Donald Young and Ryan Harrison.
