16-times grand slam champion, Roger Federer has praised the young Japan’s, Kei Nishikori addressing that, I’m sure Nishikori is going to be a wonderful player.
Both the players, Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori have battled in the finals of the 2011 Basel Open, as Federer has won the battle against Nishikori to clinch his fifth title at his home ground.
Earlier, Nishikori has thrashed out the world No.1, Novak Djokovic and world No.7, Tomas Berdych to reach to reach the finals of the 2011 Basel Open.
30-years Old Swiss hopes that the 21-years old, Nishikori is ready to make a breakthrough. The Swiss also stated that, I knew he had great potential from the first time I hit with him when he was 17 and I always saw a very talented player in front of me every time I played with Kei.
For me it was nice to see the breakthrough he did in Shanghai and then also in Basel, using the wild card to his advantage and moving all the way to the final. Beating Djokovic, the season he had; Berdych, also the great season he had, was really nice to see.
Playing him in the finals like this is special because I know Japan is a country that gets very excited about a player like Kei.
Kie best performance in the grand slam tournaments was in 2008 US Open, where he reached the fourth round of the grand slam tournament. However, Federer is confident it is only a matter of time before the youngster gets the big wins that will transform his career.
I’m sure he’s going to be a wonderful player and the future will tell if he’s going to move into the top 10 or top five.
But, Federer has said that, I definitely think he has the potential and he’s a wonderful player and a very nice guy.
