On Monday, the greatest tennis player, Roger Federer and the raising star, Milos Raonic have been honored for their remarkable performance this season in the ATP World tour.
Roger Federer has been honoured on the special court in O2 arena in London, as the frontrunner of the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award and the ATPWorldTour.com Fans’ Favourite by RICOH in the 2011 ATP World Tour Awards.
Adam Helfant, the ATP Executive Chairman & President and Javier Diez-Aguirre, RICOH Europe’s Director of Corporate Communications has honored the Swiss champion with his two-awards.
Federer after receiving the award has said that, many awards now. It’s 22 from the ATP [World Tour Awards] and nine straight Fans’ Favourite and added that “I can only thank them as many times as I already have, through the TV, through websites and when I see them and sign autographs and speak to them, how friendly they always are with me, and how nice it is to be well-liked, really. It’s nice to have so many fans all around the world.
While speaking about the Stefan Edberg award, he said that, this is very special to me because he was an idol for me growing up. Sort of being popular like him and being regarded from my fellow peers, and my rivals really at times, as a fair player… This is already my seventh award in the fair play category, so it’s very nice and I’m very proud of those achievements.
Mean while, Canadian raising star, Milos Raonic has been honoured with the Newcomer of the Year presented by Moët & Chandon.
Canadian has said that, it’s an amazing experience and an amazing honour, especially coming from other player and addressed that, it means a lot to me to have that respect from the other players and to be getting that kind of appreciation. It’s a big thing, it’s an award you can only be up for once in your career and it’s an honour to win it. It’s a great way to finish the year. It’s something I want to build on, get motivated, inspired and work hard to build up a better 2012.
