Canadian raising star, Milos Raonic will be taking on the American legend, Pete Sampras on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in an exhibition match at the Air Canada Centre, Canada.
This would be the first time that the Canadian, Raonic will be facing his tennis idols, Sampras on Thursday at 7 p.m. It could be a great opportunity for the young Canadian to get some tips from the 15-times grand slam champion, Sampras.
There will also be a special autograph session for fans at 6:15 p.m with Raonic, Sampras and actor Hayden Christensen, who will be participating in a celebrity match along with CityNews anchor Gord Martineau.
Raonic is pleased with his performance this season and is excited to play the exhibition match against his idol, Pete Sampras. World No.33 has said that, it’s been an amazing year, Raonic said of his short season. Moving up 120 spots is pretty special, but it’s only made me more-hungry. I want to be close to, or in, the top 10 by this time next year, Raonic said. I was doing well to get the opportunities on my return game, but I just wasn’t converting. I don’t feel I’m that far off from being a complete player.
20-year-old Thornville player has said that, he used to tape all his matches and would watch them repeatedly and is expecting a competitive match and one that will be fun to watch.
Local boy addressed that, the match between them will help Canadian tennis grow and more people are interested to pick up a racket and play.
