The 16-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has commented on the new rivalry World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and 10-time major title holder Rafael Nadal in the next season.
The World No. 4th ranked Roger Federer said he is very excited to watch the match between two new rivalries’ Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, where both the players are becoming tougher than past. Federer said Djokovic has played a finest season beating Nadal in six consecutive tournament finals and clinched three Grand Slam finals. Federer said it will be very interesting how Nadal will come back into court at the 2011 BNP Paribas Masters tournament next month in Paris.
Federer holds the record of No. 1 position in the ATP Rankings for a 237 consecutive weeks and 285 weeks overall with 16 major titles and also appeared in an extraordinary 23 career Grand Slam finals. The Swiss maestro said he is not interested in the Rankings, if he is at No. 3 or No. 4 spots in the ATP Rankings, where he wants to show high level tennis at the Basel Open. He added Nadal could face a tough challenge against Djokovic in the upcoming season.
Federer, who has not won a single Grand Slam tournament title this season, since winning 2010 Australian Open beating Andy Murray in three sets with a 6–3, 6–4 and 7–6(13–11). Federer will return back to action on Monday at Basel Open, where he will face Italian star Potito Starace in the opening round of the Swiss Open.
