The former World No. 1 Venus Williams of United States will play in the 2011 ASB Classic tennis tournament in Auckland, schedule to play in January next year.
The seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams, who has withdrawn from the all tournaments in 2011 season, she will return back to action at ASB Classic tournament in January. Venus Williams has announced to play in the ASB Classic in Auckland, where she has received wildcard to play in the outdoor hard-court tournament, schedule to begin from January 2nd to 7th. Venus will begin her 2012 Australian Open preparations at Hong Kong Open tournament, which she has won four titles since 1999.
The 31-year-old Venus Williams has played her tournament at US Open at Flushing Meadows, where she has withdrawn from the second round match against Sabine Lisicki of Germany. Venus Williams, who was suffering from an immune system disease called Sjogren’s syndrome, which can get fatigue and joint pain. The American star has won 43 WTA singles titles, since1998 and appeared in the 27 WTA Tour finals in her career.
Venus also bagged 12 grand slam doubles titles along with her sister Serena Williams including two Olympic gold medals in 2000. The five-time Wimbledon winner Venus Williams has slide down to 101 positions in the WTA Rankings, after withdrawn from all tournaments in 2011. Venus hopes to return back to top form in the next season at ASB Classic tournament in January.
