Former world No.1, Venus Williams is expected to be back on court in Barbados, which is scheduled to be held on Dec. 10-11, 2011.
7-time grand slam champion, Venus, who has been withdrawn for the second round encounter in the 2011 US Open, due to Sjögren’s syndrome is expected to fit for the Barbados tournament, which is scheduled to be held in Barbados, West Indies.
According to tournament director, Kodi Lewis, Venus will be fit to play in Barbados and added that, he spoke with Venus and her manager along with the Venus Doctors about the full prescription for her specific autoimmune disease and reported that, yes, she will be fit.
The other top seeded players, who have confirmed to play in the Barbados event, which will be held at the Sugar Hill Tennis Resort are Caroline Wozniacki (WTA No.1), Victoria Azarenka (No.3), Gael Monfils and John Isner.
Venus and Serena Williams are also scheduled to play an exhibition match in Milan on Dec. 3 against Italy’s Francesca Schiavone and Flavia Pennetta.
During the US Open, Venus Sjögren’s syndrome has caused her to drop in the WTA Ranking table. She is currently ranked No.101.
