12-time grand slam champion, Rafael Nadal will be squaring off with the Canadian raising star, Milos Raonic to book his place in the quarterfinals of the 2011 Tokyo Open.
Rafael Nadal is set to take on the world No. 34, Milos Raonic in the third round of the 2011 Tokyo Open on Thursday, 6th October, 2011 at 02:00 GMT, in the ATP-500 Event, which is being held in Tokyo, Japan.
Both the players have battled in the same tournament last year, as the defending champion, Nadal has thrashed out Raonic in straight sets with a score line of 6-4 6-4 in round 16.
World No.2, Nadal has shown a great performance this season against all the players except his new rival, Novak Djokovic. He has been defeated in 4-Masters titles clash against the No.1, Djokovic, including two grand slam titles clash against Djokovic in Wimbledon and US Open.
Nadal having won three titles this season including the French Open is now 62-11 this season stands next to Novak Djokovic on 64 match winning streak.
Mailos Raonic, the Canadian raising star has been in a top form early in the season. However, he has been out of Wimbledon, where he suffered a right hip injury that required him to undergo surgery on 5 July and sidelined him throughout the summer. He made his return last month in the Canadian Davis cup rubber against Israel. However, he has been defeated single’s rubber against Israel, Amir Weintraub.
Raonic has played his first ATP match on Tuesday against the Japanese wild card Yuichi Sugita and defeated him in a thrilling three set encounter with a score line of 6-7(4), 6-3, 7-6(1).
As per the predictions, it would be a straight sets victory for the top seeded Spaniard, Nadal.
