Top seeded player in the tournament, Nicolas Almagro will be squaring off with the Japanese player, Kei Nishikori to book his place in the semifinal of the 2011 Malaysian Open.
World No.11, Nicolas Almagro will be clashing in the quarterfinals of the 2011 Malaysian Open against the world No.54, Kei Nishikori on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 12:00 GMT in the ATP-250 event, which is being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Both the players will be meeting for the first time against each other in any of the ATP tournaments, as the Spaniard is a huge favourite to secure a place in final four.
The 26-year-old Almagro has been playing well this year in the Grand Slam tournaments, where he has reached the fourth round of the Australian Open in January and third round of the Wimbledon this year. Almagro is one of the hot favorite to lift the title at Malaysian Open this week.
In his third round encounter, he has beaten fellow countrymen, Albert Ramos in a three set match with a score line of 7-6(2) 7-6(4).
Kei Nishikori has got a win-loss record of 25-17 in 2011 will be having a tough time, when he takes on the top seeded, Almagro. World No.43, Nishikori is seeking for his second career title has knocked out Philipp Petzschner in a three set encounter with 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
As per the predictions, it would be three set clash between both the players, as Almagro is the favourite men to win the quarterfinals match.
