Rafael Nadel, the former No. 1 tennis player in the world is thinking, is this beginning of the end for him, after Monday’s 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-1 loss to Novak Djokovic at the US Open Finals. Well, the great match that took over 4 hours to complete, Nadal lost a great chance to take advantage of a Djokovic injury. After he lost the 3rd set, the Serbian was seen groaning in pain on the sideline as trainers trying to stretch out his sore back. Throughout the set he received treatment and used an injury timeout also.
Nevertheless the 25-year-old Nadal got completely torched in the 4th set and lost to Djokovic for the 6 consecutive times. For Nadal unluckily the Grand Slam ends as a disappointing, which saw him take home the French Open title and not much else. His foot injuries were once again a major storyline all through the season and forced him to retire from various tournaments. Watching him on the court, it’s clear that he has attuned his game to endeavor and reduce the pain. This hampers his final performance when playing the best players in the world.
On the other hand, his return game is in fact initially to wane. Although, Nadal yet has plenty of good tennis left in him and he will be privileged on the clay surface of the French Open. However it appears like the hard-court surfaces have turn out to be very taxing on his body, leading one to doubt if he can win another Grand Slam event at Flushing Meadows.Nadal will always have the clay-court advantage at the French Open, other than that it is better not to expect any other major championships from him, in spite of having the extra-ordinary strength and power in his serve.
