The man-in-form Novak Djokovic has clinched his first US Open title at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows on Monday night with a 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7) and 6-1.
The World No. 1 ranked Novak Djokovic has defeated defending champion and second seed Rafael Nadal of Spain in the 2011 US Open final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows. Djokovic has overcome against Nadal in four sets with a 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7) and 6-1 on Monday night. Serbian has played outstanding tennis against Spaniard in the final and lifted his first Grand Slam title on American soil. The top seed made a total of enormous 55 winners in the entire match to Nadal’s 32 and committed 51 unforced errors in the final.
The 2010 US Open champion Nadal has lost sixth final against Djokovic in this season including Indian Wells, Miami Open, Rome Masters, Madrid Masters and 2011 Wimbledon. Djokovic, who has lost US Open final for two times in 2007 and 2010, finally won the hard court championship. The Serbian star has clinched the victory in four hours and 10 minutes to wrap-up the US Open final and won fourth Grand Slam title in his career. The 2011 Wimbledon winner Djokovic also received the 2011 US Open winner’s check of a massive US$ 2.3 million, including a bonus of US$ 500,000 for finishing runner up at the Olympus US Open series.
