The man-in-form Novak Djokovic and Australian Samantha Stosur have clinched the 2011 US Open championships at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows.
The World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has won his third Grand Slam title this year at US Open at Flushing Meadows, after beating defending champion Rafael Nadal in four sets with a 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7) and 6-1 on Monday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Djokovic, who has lost two finals at US Open in 2007 to Roger Federer in straight sets with a 7–6, 7–6 and 6–4 and fell to Rafael Nadal in 2010 final in four sets with a 6–4, 5–7, 6–4 and 6–2.
The 24-year-old Djokovic has won his third major titles this year, including Australian Open in Melbourne Park and Wimbledon crown in All England Club. Serbian made 63-2 win loss record in this season, where he is looking forward to play well in the upcoming Davis Cup matches for his nation later this week.
The Australian star Samantha Stosur has clinched her first Grand Slam title in career at 2011 US Open tournament, after thrashing three-time US Open champion Serena Williams in straight sets with a 6-2 and 6-3 on Sunday night at Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows.
