The 2011 US Open tournament biggest upsets made by the best players on tour, where the top seeds have made early exit from the year’s last Grand Slam event.
The 2011 French Open champion Li Na has been crashed out of the US Open tournament in the opening round by the World No. 53 ranked Simona Halep of Romania in straight sets with a 2–6 and 5–7. The former World No. 1 and Russian star Maria Sharapova, who has played well in this season, as she clinched the titles in Rome Masters, Cincinnati Masters. But, failed to continue her performance at 2011 US Open tournament, where she lost to Italian Flavia Pennetta in three sets with a 6–3, 3–6 and 6–4 in the third round.
The World No. 3 ranked Victoria Azarenka also made early exit from the American Grand Slam, as she lost in straight sets with a 6-1 and 7-6 to former World No. 1 Serena Williams in the third round. The 2008 French Open champion Ana Ivanovic has crashed out of the fourth round of the event in straight sets with a 6-4 and 6-3 to American Serena Williams.
The 16-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has lost once in the semi final stage to Novak Djokovic in tough five sets and Britain star Andy Murray has continue the similar performance at Grand Slam event, where he has return back to home from US Open semi finals, as he fell to Rafael Nadal in four sets. The 2009 US open champion Juan Martín Del Potro also out of the US Open event in the third round to Frenchman Gilles Simon in four sets.
