Roger Federer has the got the last chance to impress his Swiss fans, when he is in action in this week’s Davis Cup World Group tennis play-off against Australia. The winner, on grass at Royal Sydney Golf Club starting on Friday, will be promoted to the World Group for next year.Roger Federer, after losing his semifinals encounter on Saturday against the world No.1, Novak Djokovic in the 2011 US Open, the Australian Davis Cup tennis captain Pat Rafter expects, the world No.3 will be fired-up.
Rafter while speaking with the various sources has stated that, yes, he’s not coming down here to stuff around, he wants to win,” Rafter told reporters at Royal Sydney on Monday.”It’s a long way to come, as he said earlier in the week, and obviously he’s coming in very late, so he’s here to win.”That obviously puts us under a lot more pressure. He’s obviously one of the greatest grass courters of all time, but we’re looking at trying to take down Wawrinka.
Australian Davis cup captain also stated that, it’s tough to face the six times grass court champion, Federer and stressed the choice of surface to concentrate more on Switzerland’s No.2, Stanislas Warwick. The Swiss No.2, Warwick has got a win –loss record of 9-13 on the grass and this season, he has 1-2 record on grass, where he was thrashed out twice against the unseeded players.
Rafter finally reported that, his boys are ready and will be giving a huge competition to Roger Federer and also added that, they will try and beat Wawrinka and hopefully win the doubles.
