The World No. 18th ranked Sabine Lisicki will face Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine in the opening round of the US Open tournament on Tuesday at 15:05 GMT at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York City.
The 21-year-old Lisicki has improving her performance in every tournament in this season, she has reached the semi final of the 2011 Wimbledon at All England Club, fell to Russian Maria Sharapova in the straight sets. The German star Lisicki also clinched the victory at Texas Tennis Open in Dallas, after defeating Aravane Rezai of France in straight sets with a 6-2 and 6-1. She has lost in the opening round of the Cincinnati Masters to Shahar Peer of Israel in consecutive sets last week.
The 27-year-old Alona Bondarenko has lost in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters, lost to Marion Bartoli of France in straight sets with a 6-1 and 6-2. She also fell in the opening round of the 2011 Rogers Cup in Toronto to American Serena Williams in two sets with a 6-0 and 6-3. She has been not playing well in this season, where she should be work hard to win the match.
Both the players are facing for the second occasion, where Ukraine star Alona Bondarenko leads with 1-0 win loss head-to-head record against German star. The pair has last meet at US Open tournament in 2008, as Bondarenko defeated Lisicki in three sets with a 6-4, 1-6 and 6-4. The odds favors Sabine Lisicki will win the first round match and move to second round of the US Open event, played here at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York.
