The World No. 1 ranked Novak Djokovic is set to clash with Conor Niland of Ireland in the opening round of the US Open tournament on Tuesday 30th August at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York City.
The man-in form Novak Djokovic has been playing one of his best seasons at the moment, as he won eight titles including 2 Grand Slam titles at Wimbledon and Australian Open. Djokovic has won the Rogers Cup at Montreal beating Mardy Fish in the final in three sets. Serbian, who has reached the final of the US Open tournament in 2007 and 2009, he has failed to lift the title on American soil.
The 24-year-old Djokovic has seeded No. 1 follows by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer at No. 2 and No. 3 seeds respectively. The Ireland star Conor Niland has played his last tournament in Wimbledon at All England Club, where he lost in the opening round of the event to Adrian Mannarino of France in tough five sets. Conor Niland has to play hard to win the first round match against tournament top seed on Tuesday.
Both the players are clashing head-to-head for the first time in their career, where Djokovic looks hot favorite to clinch the victory and advance into the second round of the US Open. In the other matches, World No. 2 Rafael Nadal will take on Andrey Golubev in the first round at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows Park. The Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will clash against Yen-Hsun Lu at Grandstand on Tuesday.
